iReady is up for Golden Fields!  Feel free to have your child log on for math tutoring.  The user name is your child's Skyward/lunch number.  The password is 1234.  Keep in mind iReady creates lessons for your child at their level.  Please do not help your child with answers as this will skew their results and the program will start tailoring instruction for you and not your child. :-)  You can certainly help with any procedural confusion.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  I'm glad Golden Fields can provide this resource.
For our upcoming Halloween Party, we can use three or four volunteers to help with activities.  If you'd like to volunteer it will be important for you to make arrangements for any infants and/or preschoolers to remain in child care during the party.  We are unable to accommodate little ones during the party.  Feel free to contact Nicole Grubb at  We'll be setting up the party during lunch at 11:30-12:15 and finish the party activities at approximately 1:30.
Happy fall!

Happy October Everyone!

Our Number Sense Unit continues this week.  Watch for a note regarding your child's reading test results to come home and we'll also be sending the results of their DIBELS test as soon as the results post.  Our computer aid is helping our class complete their diagnostic assessment on iReady. We are still hoping for any old Apple Shuffles anyone is not using and willing to send our way and appreciate so much donations to our class incentive store for Halloween/fall.

Have a great week!

Welcome to a new week!  They sure are flying by!
I'm excited to announce your amazing kids have completed their training for guided reading time.  I've also completed formally re-assessing them on their reading level/skills.  We will record our reading goals on our class data sheet and include this in your child's binder behind their reading tab.  This will give you their goal to work on from home.  We will also complete our training on guided math time this week.  Today, your child participated in the DIBELS test.  I'm excited to provide your child individualized instruction coaching groups for both reading and math time.  During guided math, we will begin our unit on math number sense.  Some of our station work will also be review from last year.  For number sense, we are working on your child's fluency and flexibility with numbers, your child's understanding of number relationships to one another, and place value.  We'll also be working on practicing whether your child is able to perform mental math, understanding symbolic representations, and can they use those numbers in real world situations?  We'll make use of our base ten blocks to draw and manipulate in games, representations and recording sheets.  Golden Fields is ready to launch iReady.  Before your child can access it at home, we'll give them an assessment at school first.  Following completion of the assessment, we'll give you the login information to utilize this resource from home.
Have a great week!

Our first class store was so much fun!  The students really enjoyed spending their Beagle Bucks. Thanks for partnering with us by initialing your child's reading minutes and behavior circles for their Beagle Buck reward.  Thanks also for making-up your child's spelling test with them if they miss a Friday.   You can send their test in upon their return to school.  We have not been able to launch our iReady math program yet.  I'm hoping we will hear about its availability to our new school any day now. Thanks for your patience. Once it is up and running, your child will need to log in with their Skyward number.  It will be so helpful if your child memorizes this number.  While we wait, this is a great way to help your child prepared to use the site as soon as it is up.  This number follows your child as they advance through the grades.  Memorization of this number will benefit them all through their schooling years.  I enjoy chatting with you via email, over the phone, and in person about any questions you may have. My number one priority is to help your child enjoy school and love to come and learn.  Please let me know if you need anything or have any questions.

Hi There!

This week well finish up the beginning of the year assessments.  We also have a bit of making up to do this week with students who missed days the assessments were given.  We'll launch our class incentive store this Friday.  We are accepting donations to help us beef up the remnant prizes left from last year and we appreciate so much two families who have already sent in some prizes for us. The kids enjoy white elephants from around your house of small toys still in good condition as well as healthy treats, Dollar Store items, and seasonal things such as Halloween of fall items.  Thanks in advance for helping us to sustain our store this year.  We'd also love you to send a mismatched sock with your child to use as a white board eraser.  I have ear buds the kids can share for our listening center, but if you'd like your child to have their own ear buds, you are welcome to send a pair for your child to use this year.  They will be kept in your child's backpack so feel free to pack them there inside a small container or sandwich bag.

I hope everyone had a terrific Labor Day Weekend!
We're continuing to work on our classroom routines and procedures.  It takes about 6-8 weeks total to complete modeling, practicing, and establishing our routines and centers we do during Guided Reading and Guided Math.  It takes patience during this time but pays off big dividends the rest of our year.  Thank you for your patience from home too, as we work together to launch our year.  Last week we began our spelling program.  This week, we'll launch our our behavior data and the logging of our home reading.  We'll also begin training the kids on the rotating activities they participate in during guided reading.  I'm sending home your child's spelling test results from Friday, along with their vocabulary test.  These will be 3-hole punched and placed in the spelling tab.  We'll keep them all there.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  I want to thank Mrs. Burt for taking on the donation drive to renew the Spelling City membership for our class this year.  Feel free to contact Mrs. Burt at 801.503.9145 for further details.  This is a great resource for your child to study their spelling and vocabulary.  I'll also let you know as soon as I hear about our schools completed activation in the iReady program for math.
